About Justin Hager

Justin Hager has built a career on community involvement and engagement. As a dedicated high school coach and educator, he draws upon his experience in athletics, coaching, and fitness to help mold the lives of young citizens, building them up into upstanding men and women of strong character who can impact their local communities.

Throughout his work in the community, Justin has got to meet some pretty cool people along his journey. “One of the coolest things I saw was Kobe Bryant and his daughter together — what an amazing team.” Justin also got to see Michael Phelps come through and make an impact by spending time with young athletes. As a coach, a large part of Justin’s work is found in what happens off the court. Playoffs and Championship titles are great, but if those wins aren’t accompanied by integrity and honesty, then the awards and accolades are of no benefit.

Professional Experience

Justin taught 11 years of Physical Education as a Health Instructor at Cibola High School where he participated in numerous school improvement in-service days and learning disability meetings along with parent-teacher conferences. He also taught 2 years of Physical Education and Health Education at Antelope Union High School. Justin Hager draws upon his experience in a number of athletics (football, basketball, baseball, softball, and track), his strong work ethic, and desire to constantly learn to help impact the lives of the students and athletes he works with.

Currently, Justin Hager is in his 18th year of teaching and head coaching and serves at Missouri Ridge Middle-High School as Head Boys’ Basketball Coach and Head Elementary Girls Basketball Coach. He has also served as the Assistant Athletic Director and taught 4th grade middle school Health Education. In Coach Hager’s career his teams have won over 360 games, 14 region titles and he has been awarded region coach of the year 12 times and bigs schools coach of the year in the state of Arizona along with USA Today’s Coach of the Year in 2016.

A graduate of Valley City State University, Justin has an MA in Athletic Administration (Coaching), a B.S. in Education with a Major in Physical Education (K-12) and Health Education, and a Minor in Athletic Coaching.
